Have Your New Year’s Resolutions Gotten “Off-Track”?
Sure, it may be a little odd to talk about goals and New Year’s Resolutions in June. But too many people get off-track and then never reach their goals…and I don’t want that to be YOU!
You’ve probably heard that money doesn’t grow on trees. In fact, you’ve probably heard that since you were a kid. You may even tell your own kids that. And guess what… It’s true! Money doesn’t grow on trees. It isn’t at the end of a rainbow. And it doesn’t just fall out of the sky.
So where does it come from? People! Think about it. If you sell a product or service, you sell it to a person. Not to a computer or a company. You sell to a real, living, breathing person. When you go into a store to buy something, that store is selling a product to you – a person! (I could go further into this topic, but that’s another message for another time.)
So if money comes from people, it is a good idea to learn how to get it. How do you make people want to work with you? How do you make people want to be your advocate? How do you communicate with people in such a way that they actually want to listen to you, refer people to you, be around you, and yes, want to give you their money?
It’s simple. Relationship first, and business follows.
See, when you lead with your product or service, you show people that you are only after one thing: their money. If you are only focused on getting their money, they know it, and they will avoid you like the plague. They will not trust you or want anything to do with you.
You must take a genuine interest in people. All people want to feel special and important. They want to be encouraged. They want to feel valued. They don’t want to be sold to. They don’t want to be buried by information about your product or service. They don’t want to feel like you only want their money.
The truth is, people are looking for personal relationships. It’s such a digital world today, and there is a giant hole when it comes to personal relationships. It is so refreshing to meet someone who actually wants to build a relationship instead of simply trying to sell something to you. And YOU can be that person!
If you help other people get what they want, you will get what you want. This creates mutually beneficial relationships. And all you have to do is ask yourself, "Who can I help to succeed today?"
It’s easy to find out what your prospects and clients want. And it’s so incredibly simple that most people never even think to do it. Just ask them! Let them talk about themselves, and they will flat out tell you what is important to them. It’s not about you, your product, your website, your needs, or your goal. It’s about finding out what’s important to the other person so you can fill that need! Focus on their strengths, interests, goals, and needs – not yours.
By helping other people get what they want, you will expand your influence and offer real value to people. And always remember: You reap what you sow. So make sure you are sowing honor, integrity, honesty, and authenticity.
This is one of my biggest business secrets. (I can’t believe I’m giving this away for free…) When you have a high level of people skills, your influence will expand and your income will grow exponentially. You will attract loyal customers, clients, business partners, and employees. You will gain trust very quickly and easily, and you will receive referrals everywhere you go. You will have less stress and more freedom to do the things that are truly important to you. You will have order in your workplace and home, and you will create a culture of true honor.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, the very basics. There is so much more I want to tell you. But for now, I’ll just leave it at this: There is a massive source of new business, bigger influence, and true wealth waiting for you to tap into it. And it starts with asking yourself, "Who can I help to succeed today?"
I hope this has helped you today. I can’t wait to hear how you will take this into your place of work. (Please take a moment and send me your feedback below!) And if you are a leader in your business, company, or industry, it would probably be a very wise idea to send this to all of your team members, or even share this post on Facebook.
Other than that, I hope you have an awesome and productive day! And until next time, God bless!
In great faith,
Sure, it may be a little odd to talk about goals and New Year’s Resolutions in June. But too many people get off-track and then never reach their goals…and I don’t want that to be YOU!
Today, I’m sharing a strategy that has helped me to clearly recognize God’s voice. And you don’t have to be some kind of super-duper-extra-spiritual person…you just have to be willing to listen and truly hear Him!
Everyone you encounter is unique…and significant! That’s why it’s so important to learn how to encourage others and truly embrace their differences, so we can ALL learn to work together – in unity, instead of division.
