“Trim The Fat”…From Your Budget
I know “budget” may seem like a dirty word. But if you stick to it, trim the fat and exercise self-control, you WILL reap the benefits!
Have I told you yet today that you BLOW my mind? I am so blessed to know you and get the chance to work with you. There is no greater community than the one here at DaniJohnson.com.
Where else would you find a group of people who are focused on annihilating debt, increasing their incomes, bettering their lives… all while helping the poor? Maybe you aren’t sure what I’m gushing about just yet, so let me explain.
This Sunday in Baltimore at our First Steps to Success event something unbelievable took place. You see, DaniJohnson.com and King’s Ransom Foundation have been raising money to build 60 homes in the small village of Kadwa, Haiti. We also want to install 2 water filtration systems and set up a sugar cane processing facility, so the town has a sustainable means of income. It’s a huge deal for the families of Haiti who have been living in total poverty, while watching their children die daily of water-borne bacteria.
While I was on stage Sunday afternoon, I could see people start to stand up and work their way toward the stage. Pretty soon it turned into an all-out eruption of YOU and people just like you, coming up and putting money on the stage for Haiti.
At first it was just cash, until one of our clients Richard (who is from London, England) grabbed a mic and said he would put down $2500 if someone would match it. Four people stepped up to accept the match and wrote a check!
I was totally blown away and touched by this random blessing for the children of Haiti. But none of that compares to what happened next! My spiritual mom, Lavonne Atnip stepped up and said, “I had an aneurysm in 2006 and Dani wrote me a check for $5000 to help us out, so today I am giving that $5000 to these poor people who need it. Who will match me?” Three people matched HER!
Seriously? SERIOUSLY, I can’t believe it! We just finished counting the money collected at the event and it turns out we raised $56,792.61 just from that one outburst of spontaneous generosity! That is enough to build 8 houses for the people of Haiti.
But it didn’t stop there! The fire is still burning to support this cause. This entire week I’ve watched community members raising money and calling on each other to give to this cause. As of yesterday another $4,800 was raised just through social media and matches, donations and the support keeps coming in!
Can you believe it? You continue to shock, humble and bless me daily. I’m so proud of everyone who has taken up the cause of the orphan, widowed, sick and hungry suffering in Haiti right now. Be sure to leave me your comments – or issue a challenge of your own, and please Like or Share today’s message with your family and friends. If you want to join or support this cause, grab your friends and read more on what you can do to help! Every dollar counts.
The week is almost over, so if you are looking for a little motivation to finish the week strong be sure to join us on The Dani Johnson Show this afternoon at 12 pm ET/11 am CT. Check out where you can find us on your radio during your lunch hour today or you can always stream the show live via our website. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
In great faith,
I know “budget” may seem like a dirty word. But if you stick to it, trim the fat and exercise self-control, you WILL reap the benefits!
Are you a procrastinator? I hear a lot of people claim they do their best work “under pressure”… Unfortunately, procrastination and pressure lead to mental fatigue, stress, anxiety, fear and defeat. And that keeps you stuck!
Everyone wants to be happy and satisfied, to live a fulfilled life…people constantly search for satisfaction, but many never quite find it. But happiness IS possible for everyone, no matter their circumstances.
