How To Achieve All Your Goals This Year!
Have you set your New Year’s goals yet? If not, it’s not too late to write down some New Year’s resolutions. And if you’re the kind of person I think […]
Do you have a goal to start your own business? But, at the same time have you done nothing to move toward making it a reality? Or maybe there is another goal you’ve been thinking about a lot, but just haven’t started working on yet. Either way, this message today is specifically for you!
Have you ever heard the saying “a man reaps what he sows”? But what does a man get if he sows nothing at all? Is there any benefit to thinking about sowing a seed, starting a business, getting to the gym, finishing a project or making a phone call?
Heck no! You could have the best intentions, thoughts or ideas in the whole world. But you will never reap any fruit unless you actually plant it. That seems like a no-brainer, right?
A few statistical reports indicate 85-95% of people are at least affected in some way by procrastination. About 20% of those are chronic procrastinators who run the risk of losing their jobs, have serious problems in their relationships with others, as well as financial problems.
Hmmm… apparently not as much of a no-brainer as you thought? Chances are you’ve at least dealt with this exact issue or are someone who struggles with it constantly! If you’ve been procrastinating or saving your to-do list for the never-coming “tomorrow,” you will never plant any seeds. Which means you will never reap the fruit of any labor.
“But Dani, I work better under stress.” When you think about it, what are you doing instead of whatever it is you are procrastinating? Facebooking, watching videos of cats, texting? Let’s be honest, that line is an excuse! That time would totally be more valuable spent on other things – period.
And worse, that stress compounds. Today, that excuse might work out okay. But the more things and the more procrastination that takes place, the faster you are heading into a downward spiral that will lead to burnout. If your procrastination is affecting your lifestyle and mental health, you need more than just tips, you need a full-blown strategy!
The ultimate decision you can make is to decide what kind of life you want to live. If you sow into chronic procrastination you will reap a life of stress with very little success to show for it. If you’re sowing into the life of your dreams, you will start to see the fruit.
Take a look at where your time is going. What lifestyle choices are you planting? If those lifestyle choices will cause you stress, inaction or take away from your success, then you might want to sit down and reconsider those choices. Time management is one of the most profitable skill sets you can sow into.
What dreams are you putting into action today? If you aren’t acting on any, I hope this message reminded you to get to it! The only thing that kills procrastination is action. Leave me a comment and remember to share this message with your friends and family while you’re at it…I promise it’s easier to do it now than to put it off!
