Moving Up Starts With Stepping Up
Promotion starts with you – you have to decide to step up or stay on the step where you currently are. If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you will have what you’ve always had.
Today I want to ask…”What do you think leadership is?” This week I’ve given you a roadmap on how to develop those skills at home and at work, but what exactly IS a leader?
In today’s world, the majority of our leaders actually kind of suck at it! They use their positions of influence to get ahead, stay ahead or be in control. Because of this you might have a negative view on what their actual role should be!
Even worse, you might think as Christian or believer that being a leader is selfish. I’m not sure where the rumor exactly started that God doesn’t want you to be rich or become a great leader. God wants to see you succeed greatly. He is seeking to raise up a new breed of leadership!
You see, a true leader treats their position more like a shepherd or a king. You have a kingdom or flock to manage, protect and grow. In other words it isn’t about YOU, it’s about helping them – be it your kids, your coworkers or your friends.
Throughout the Bible there are countless examples of great kings and shepherds, as well as horrible ones. Actually, there are more bad examples than there are good. You are hearing this message because you are being trained and formed into becoming a great example your flock will talk about for generations to come.
“Those who are sickly you have not strengthened, the diseased you have not healed, the broken you have not bound up, the scattered you have not brought back, nor have you sought for the lost; but with force and with severity you have dominated them. They were scattered for lack of a shepherd, and they became food for every beast of the field and were scattered.” (Ezekial 34: 4-5)
In the eyes of God the role of a leader is quite different from what most people think! He cares about caring for others, not ruling over them.
If people are not cared for or not led, they became scattered and are easy prey. When they scatter, they will never establish roots. Without roots, it is impossible to have great success. No roots, no fruit!
The last part of that verse says they will become food for every beast. Your first image might be of a lost girl with nowhere to go, ending up on the streets. This type of prostitution is not the only form out there. Record labels do this, publishing companies do this, employers do this, pastors do this, brothers and sisters do this. They use people for their own personal gain, telling the people it’s “for their own good.”
Did you know you were appointed by God to lead? He is your boss, your general. He has given you a people to influence and to care for. How you do as His general or manager or leader, whether it be a family or business, determines whether or not you get promoted or demoted. People are really, really important to God. He is teaching you to lead like He leads. He is giving you an opportunity to be appointed to a higher level of leadership. And for the sheep…well, He has a promise for them: Justice.
Today, I encourage you to hear God’s call and step up into that role of leadership you were appointed for. Leave me your thoughts on today’s message and don’t forget to Like and Share this among your circle of influence… it’s what a good leader would do.
Join us today for The Dani Johnson Show at 12 pm ET/11 am CT. Let’s refuel and finish the rest of this week strong.
In great faith,

Have you ever been wrapped-up in the words of others? I certainly have and worked incredibly hard to be accepted. But we ARE accepted…by GOD & need to STOP living in fear of man’s words, rejection or failure!
The reality is, if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you will get the same result you’ve always had.
