Conquer The Poverty Mentality
Are you like Crystal Pearson and thousands of others, feeling like poverty is enclosing on you, sufficating your every idea of success? Everything around her was getting pretty tough. She […]
Have you ever felt the sting of rejection? People have said critical words about you, made you feel unaccepted. It might have led you to actually become fearful of people. But worse, it can lead to depression and negative thinking about yourself, as well as others! Next thing you know, you begin to reject yourself!
Maybe you say to yourself stuff like,“You idiot!” or, “I’m so stupid, I can’t seem to do anything right!” As a man thinks, so is he! If you speak that death into your life, it will bring you nothing of value! In fact, when you reject yourself, you will abandon your dreams and goals. It will make you feel trapped, hopeless and timid.
And you become so fearful of rejection from anyone around you, the second someone points out something that needs to be corrected, you rush to defend yourself. You assume a comment was directed toward you and take offense. When you fear rejection – you fear man. “The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.” (Proverbs 29:25)
When you accept rejection, you base your entire identity on those words arising out of that fear. You start to believe you really are stupid, not meant for success, worthless. And it’s a total lie!
“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) There is NO condemnation if you are with Him. Because He is for you and not against you. “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?” (Romans 8:31)
Have you ever gotten so wrapped up in the words of others? I know I have. I’ve been desperate to prove people wrong, have truly believed I was worthless and even worked to be accepted by others. But the truth is, you and I have already been accepted! So why the heck are we so caught up in the folly of man?
Today, I want you to stop accepting or fearing the words of man. Instead of taking on that rejection, realize you are already accepted. Instead, focus on who you are going to accept. God has directed us to show love, in order to receive it. If you want forgiveness, you must give it! “But showing loving-kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” (Exodus 20:6)
What are His commandments? Well, the greatest is summed up in the book of Matthew, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)
Stop living in fear of other people, of man’s words, rejection or failure! They have no claim on your identity – unless you allow them to. If you abandoned your goals, it’s time to pick them back up and breathe life back into them, instead of speaking death into them.
I truly believe this is one of the biggest issues plaguing people today! I know I’ve struggled with it in my life, and I’m sure you have, as well. It’s time to change the mindset that pushes you down. If you’re ready to stand up, then it’s time to equip yourself with the skills to claim your true identity and live life by design, not by fear.
