Avoid This Spiritual Trap To Propel Your Success
Don’t set goals that set you up for failure. Do this instead…
Through the years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of hearing stories from hundreds of thousands of our clients who have annihilated millions of dollars of debt using our “War On Debt” system. It’s so amazing to watch people move from dead broke to a debt-free, financially-independent life of their dreams. I’ve watched couples and families be restored, and children learn how to succeed financially from an early age. It really is so rewarding!
Start talking about money and it’s not uncommon to hear people complain about the economy, personal debt or any number of other financial problems. But, I truly believe if every person in the nation would follow the example of Charline – who paid off $200K of debt in 20 months – or Brad – who paid off $153K of debt in 22 months – we could turn this “bad economy” around.
That’s why I am so proud of all our clients, who stepped up to become a part of our “War On Debt” army!
But, I would be lying if I said you would never make another financial mistake after using “War On Debt.” I’d be lying if I said all of our clients had perfect financial records after using this system… because that is simply not the case.
The truth is, it’s easy to get distracted. You may start paying off debt and making wise financial choices. You start building up momentum, but next thing you know, you find yourself standing in a department store with an armful of new clothes or in the home improvement store buying supplies to remodel your kitchen.
Why? Because you have the money.
I have to tell you about a conversation I once had with a team member about this very thing. It was so profound, I just have to share it. Elyssa, our Event Coordinator for DaniJohnson.com, is a phenomenal example of what “War On Debt” can accomplish. She has been coming to First Steps To Success for 11 years, and been on staff full-time for six years. She paid off $16,000 of debt in 10 months, and is completely debt-free. She is a beautiful example of everything we teach here at DaniJohnson.com and such a joy to work with.
Elyssa bought a house, and she had a pesky little visitor for awhile after she moved in. This visitor was a raccoon who came in and out of her attic, as he pleased. She bought a special trap to catch the raccoon, but then he decided not to show his furry face around her house. So, where do you think the trap ended up? In her garage, collecting dust!
She told me, “I realized it’s so easy to let that $70 trap sit in my garage now. It’s not a big deal, so I’m not in a rush to return it and get my money back. And it’s because I have the money!”
Elyssa had $70 sitting in her garage for the same reason you may have three bottles of lotion and four bottles of shampoo in your bathroom. Or, for the same reason you have a grill you haven’t used in three years, sitting in your backyard. Or for the same reason you have four different kinds of cereal, two different kinds of lunch meat and three half-eaten bags of different kinds of chips in your pantry. Because you have the money.
Do you follow what I’m saying? Whether you’ve been using the “War On Debt” system for years, or you’ve just begun exploring the idea of becoming debt-free, you will have to make one decision over and over and OVER again… the decision to keep moving forward!
What Elyssa did was really smart: She realized, “Wow, I made a mistake. I need to fix it!” She did NOT beat herself up over it and she didn’t just throw in the towel, saying, “Well, what’s the point of trying to be financially responsible, anyway?” That would be ridiculous!
Unfortunately, a lot of people realize they’ve made a mistake, but they let that mistake push them 10 steps in the wrong direction. I believe you can be the next Charline or Brad or Elyssa. You just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other, taking one step at a time, in the right direction.
That’s why it’s so important to surround yourself with like-minded people, moving in the same direction as you are. Surround yourself with people who will hold you accountable and spur you on to reach your goals.
I don’t know what kind of environment or community you live in, but I do know the DaniJohnson.com community is here for you! Ever taken your kids into public – a grocery store or restaurant – then they act wild and crazy, spilling and throwing things… and don’t forget the yelling?! But, did you actually provoke those meltdowns? It CAN stop!
Our dollar used to be worth an actual dollar, with the gold to support it. Now that same dollar is only worth a few pennies. It’s basically Monopoly money!
