Whether you realize it or not, the next generation in our schools, churches, homes and communities, are our future… our leaders, inventors, businessmen (and women), presidents, celebrities and so much more! You could have a world-renowned author or teacher or engineer in your household, who will shape our society. Sure, sometimes they might seem like real brats (c’mon, let’s be honest!), but these kids will grow up to lead the world in the not-so-distant future!
Normally, we teach our children to think about what they want to be when they “grow up.” You often hear things like, basketball player, teacher, doctor, artist, dancer, astronaut, chef, race car driver. But you don’t hear one important option very often: business owner.
And, the most amazing part about this profession… your child doesn’t have to wait until he or she is “grown up!” They can begin learning the skills they will need, and even start their own business, NOW!
Are You Teaching Your Kids To Succeed – Or To Settle?
As a parent, you are hard-wired to want your child to succeed in life. But what they grow into is
not determined by luck! It requires the right mindset, encouragement and skills – and it’s up to YOU to teach them! But don’t worry,
we’re here to help!
When I first started in business, I didn’t have any skills. I certainly wasn’t taught to succeed by my abusive, drug-addicted parents, who never worked a day in their lives. But by 19, I knew I wanted freedom and control of my life, and being an entrepreneur granted me just that!
Of course, without any skills, I failed miserably during my first 6 months. Then, I heard about a business seminar and started attending regularly. With those skills and knowledge alone, I generated $50,000 in 6 months.
Most people don’t realize the simplicity of entrepreneurship. At the very core, it’s simply marketing something to someone. You find a product, service or idea, and you market it to people who need it. That’s it!
You need to learn a lot along the way, and the higher your skill sets, the more successful you will be. But, at the heart of it, the basics are very simple.
We know this 9-year-old young man, who has been attending First Steps To Success. So, when he wanted to go on a trip, his mom told him he would need to pay for it, himself.
This young man sat down and thought, “Hmm… nobody likes picking up dog poop…” He wrote a script and started a business picking up poop. He went door-to-door, using his script to get new clients. This 9-year-old made hundreds of dollars doing something most people hate doing! He found a need and filled it – translating into cash in his pocket!
A 9-year-old can do it! He didn’t have to wait until he graduated from high school, got a degree, gained hours of experience, or struggle to make ends meet, first. Nope! He made a decision and just did it!
What an awesome starting point for this young man! He has recaptured the entrepreneurial spirit in our nation has lost, and it’s up to you and me to awaken it in the next generation!
How do you set goals with your kids? What kind of vision do you put into this next generation? Our future world needs more entrepreneurs! Are you helping now to create that legacy for tomorrow? I want to know! Leave me your comments below!
