Set Yourself Up For Outrageous Success In 2017!
Whether you already have goals and plans for 2017 – or not – God has something to say about 2017. He honestly CARES about your plans and WANTS you to succeed…and He actually tells you exactly HOW!
I don’t know if you caught my radio show last Wednesday or not, but if you missed it, I would definitely recommend going back and listening to it. And here’s why…
There have been several studies by different staffing and consulting firms recently, and the results are just shocking! Are you ready for this? According to the staffing firm ManpowerGroup, 2 out of 3 people are not satisfied with their jobs. CNN reported that 1 in 3 people say they will be seeking other employment within the next year because of job-related stress and dissatisfaction. WHAT?! Seriously???
But that’s not even the most shocking part…
I had an article come across my desk last week from Fox Business. It suggested that some acceptable reasons to leave your job include: you’re bored, your work has stopped teaching you, you’ve found something new, or you’ve lost sight of your career goals.
The article also stated, "If you’re no longer being challenged at work, it’s likely your work is suffering. This might be a great time to break up with your current position and move on to something new."
But here’s what I know: There are all kinds of so-called career "experts" out there who are quick to tell you that quitting your job and finding a new one is the answer to your dissatisfaction at work.
My friend, that is not the answer! If you’re waiting for the perfect job or opportunity to come along so that you will be totally satisfied… If you are waiting for your kids to be perfect and not give you any problems ever again… If you are waiting for the right spouse that will make you totally happy forever… You need a reality check!
Our society is so focused on whether or not something satisfies them, but they don’t know how to find satisfaction in what they’re doing. They see an article like the one from Fox Business, and even if they aren’t dissatisfied in their job, they start to think that way. They see boredom is presented as an acceptable reason to leave a job, so guess what? Soon they are complaining about being bored at work!
One thing leads to another, and next thing you know, they are completely dissatisfied and miserable in their job. Yes, this employee who was once a hard worker and very happy at their job is now convinced he or she is in a "dead-end job".
One career "expert" told Forbes, "A dead-end job is one where you don’t see any opportunity for growth, or where an everyday task seems like a burden instead of an achievement, or where there is no appreciation or acknowledgement for your work." REALLY??? HELLO!!! Wake up!
If you are waiting for an opportunity to grow to come knock on your door, you’ve got a problem. If you don’t see any opportunity for growth in your current position, then guess what… Your job is not the dead end. YOU ARE!
Your perception becomes your reality, whether it is actual reality or not. You will always be limited why what you cannot see. If you are grumbling and complaining about not having the right opportunities, you are never going to find any opportunities. Complaining causes you to focus on what is wrong instead of focusing on fixing the problem.
So you’ve got to focus on finding satisfaction and finding opportunities to grow. I promise you will find them!
The truth is, no matter what your job is, there is always room for growth. There is always opportunity to improve. If you are bored in your job, don’t go looking for another job! Look for new skills you can learn and new needs you can fill inside of your company. If you feel like you are underpaid or underappreciated, don’t walk away! Look for ways you can increase your value.
You must prosper where you’re planted. I know it’s easy to think that if you just had that perfect job or if you married that perfect person or if you had the perfect kids, you wouldn’t have any of the problems you’re facing right now. But the truth is, none of that stuff really matters. It wouldn’t matter if you had the perfect job… If you are not looking for satisfaction, you will not be satisfied.
So it all comes down to this: Find satisfaction in your work. When you work with excellence and diligence, and when you are invested into your company, you will find satisfaction.
Have you ever experienced either side of this equation – being totally dissatisfied or totally satisfied in your work? I’d love to know what you think about this. Tell me what makes you satisfied when it comes to work. I really love hearing your feedback, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you have to say about today’s Daily Fix.
Ya know, you and I have both heard people all around us complaining about their jobs or their bosses, or even those who are worrying about unemployment rates and not being able to find a job. Do you see how what you just read impacts all of those areas? Can you imagine if all of those people got a chance to read the message you just read? Things would be a little different, don’t you think?
Well, let’s make sure that happens right now. Go ahead and send this to at least 10 people you know who need to read this today (and then leave a comment below and let me know that you followed directions). Then share this link on Facebook and Twitter. Let’s get the word out there so we can help our friends, families, co-workers, and communities!
Other than that, I hope you have an awesome day, and I can’t wait to talk to you today for Double Whammy Wednesday! God bless!
In great faith,
Whether you already have goals and plans for 2017 – or not – God has something to say about 2017. He honestly CARES about your plans and WANTS you to succeed…and He actually tells you exactly HOW!
When confronted about forgiveness, I had a choice to make. I could continue with my anger, rage, judgment and distrust, which were NOT helping me to become who I wanted to be. Or, I could choose to FORGIVE!
Look, if a misfit like me – from the wrong side of the tracks, with the wrong parents and wrong circumstances – can rise up to find a “happily ever after” for MY story…you can, too! So, let’s create YOUR happy ending!
