This week, you might be on the hunt for that perfect gift for a loved one. It could be your spouse, your best friend, a parent, your awesome kid. You don’t want to get them a mug or just a card or something that will sit on the shelf, you want to buy them something meaningful and useful – something that reflects the depth of your feelings for them!
Meanwhile the retail federation anticipates American will spend over 600 BILLION dollars this season. And, here’s the kicker… I just came across an ABC article last week saying retail owners might be disappointed this year.
In fact, the four-day BIG SALE weekend that began Thanksgiving Day generated only $57.4 billion. While that is a lot of money, it is 3 percent LESS than last year! Which means this year is the first time in over 7 years that those numbers actually declined. Retail growth at this rate will cap at 2.1 percent – the worst retail performance since 2009, when our country was in the depths of a recession!
Resolve to revolutionize your spending
You’re probably already thinking about your New Year’s resolutions. Make more money, get out of debt, spend more time with loved ones… This year, don’t make resolutions you never think of again after the first few days of the year pass. Equip yourself to truly succeed in 2014.
More and more people are not falling for the traps anymore or have just become tired of the holiday commercialism. This trend is inspiring, as if Americans are finally starting to wake up and smell the scam!
