Is Broke, Lazy & Fat REALLY How You Want To Live?
We often pay more for convenience and that money adds up…QUICK! And those “bonus” additives in pre-packaged, over-processed junk, make you fat, sick and broke! Is that REALLY what you want?
March is here already… are you surprised? The groundhog may have seen his shadow, but you are probably still looking forward to the first day of spring coming up in a few weeks. The seemingly endless “polar vortex” will finally be ending soon!
Along with the first signs of spring comes the idea of spring cleaning: time to dust behind the bookcase, throw out old clothes and empty out the junk just taking up space in your garage.
Let’s kick your spring cleaning off a little early this year and talk about getting rid of the “junk” in your life and use this season for a fresh start. And when I say “junk,” I don’t mean the crap in your house, either. I mean the extra jobs you are taking on!
What is your job? Are you a journalist, an entrepreneur, a full-time parent? Maybe you are all of the above! But are you also a spouse? Or let me know if any of these other jobs sound familiar: A loyal friend, a shoulder to cry on, the listening ear, the handyman, the entertainer…
In your life there is a whole tornado of jobs you are constantly trying to perform. But let’s be honest, between your day job, your family and everything else, any of these jobs can be the cause of major STRESS in your life.
Depending on your priorities, you might be over-extending yourself. If you work full-time, take care of the kids full-time are a full-time, are a full-time unpaid counselor, as well as a full-time people-pleaser, you’re headed for burnout. When you stretch yourself that thin you become emotionally and physically tired.
Are you productive when you are tired? No! Plus the work you do manage to accomplish isn’t even your best because your brain is so fried.
Make a list of what your biggest priorities are. As you are going about your spring cleaning, take a few extra minutes to kick those extra jobs to the curb, too. Being the judge and jury over your friends’ decisions doesn’t provide you with health insurance, vacation days or the chance of promotion. Constant people-pleasing won’t get you closer to your goals.
It is your responsibility to evaluate where you are spending your time. Do away with the extra job positions and daily activities that are NOT getting you closer to your goals and dreams. If you are focusing on the priorities that pay you in better relationships, a productive business and progress toward your financial goals there will be endless benefits and bonuses to come.

Years ago, I would see those depressing commercials for orphaned children. They open with a sappy song and just show a scrawny-legged, filth-covered child with a sad look on his or her little face. And… you’re already changing the channel, right?
Do you ever start something again and again and again, but never stick to it long enough to actually achieve anything or see any results. Instead, you assume it just isn’t working for you and abandon it.
