Eliminate This One "Turn-Off" In Your Relationships
Anxiety and worry never pays out well. It does not have a good return. The price is way too high, and the value is too small.
Have you ever put your heart and soul into something, only to completely fall flat on your face? You finally took a risk, stepped out of your comfort zone, tried something new and then you didn’t succeed?
I know I have been there! I was homeless once, lost everything many times over. It doesn’t just majorly SUCK, it does something to your confidence. It makes you not want to ever try again… right? Or suddenly you start thinking you were just meant for failure.
The truth, is we ALL fail sometimes. It’s a part of life, it isn’t some uncommon thing! It doesn’t mean you’re never going to succeed, it just means you’re human! When you experience a setback, it’s your choice whether you keep taking steps backward or you get up and move forward.
Did you know Abraham Lincoln was a failed businessman, suffered a nervous breakdown and lost 8 elections before becoming president? Steve Jobs was fired from his own company! Yet both of these men have made huge marks on history for their SUCCESS.
Whatever the circumstances are, don’t use your epic fail as an excuse to stop moving forward. Instead, use these steps.
STEP 1: Failure can hurt, but the first and most important step is the first one forward! You have to decide that even if you fail again, you’re going to keep trying. If you choose to let the failure control your life, you will stay stuck in your rut forever.
STEP 2: You have to accept responsibility. Either due to a lack of leadership, lack of knowledge or lack of proper decision-making, you screwed up somewhere along the line. Instead of getting caught up in the mistake or trying to blame everyone or everything else, you just have to live with it. Shoulder that responsibility!
STEP 3: Debrief by asking yourself some basic questions. What did I do that worked? What did I do that didn’t work? What should I have done differently? You have to realize that if you try, try and try and fail repeatedly, it probably means you are doing something WRONG. Instead of making the same mistakes, figure out what is wrong and fine-tune your plan using what you’ve learned.
STEP 4: ACT. All the other steps are important, but ultimately, if you don’t put what you learned into action, they are useless! Actions kills procrastination and creates momentum to keep yourself motivated to keep moving ahead.
Today, take a look back at your past failures. Have you tried to create a new plan? Did you try to act out the same plan again? It’s possible you gave up on a goal in your past because you didn’t learn and move on. Or possibly because you haven’t forgiven yourself yet for failing.
Are you going to let your past missteps control your life? Or are you going to decide to move on? The choice is yours! (Click to tweet that quote here) Leave me your comments on what your next step is and don’t forget to Like and Share today’s message.
