Who’s The Boss In Your Life?
It’s hard to give up control… sometimes it goes against everything we may feel or think or “know.”
Happy Wednesday! Today’s message of faith is specifically designed to help get you through the rest of the week. See, we all need a daily dose of faith. What you feed will flourish and what you neglect will die. Which means, for your faith to grow stronger and flourish, you must feed it daily!
So, let’s spend a few minutes talking about Elijah – a man whose life I genuinely love studying and who massively challenges my faith – because I know it will encourage and help you to grow in your faith, too!
“The word of the Lord came to him, saying, ‘Go away from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.’ So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.” (I Kings 17:2-5)
The Lord instructs Elijah to hide by a brook and sends ravens with food. Sounds crazy, right? Think about a time in your life you worried about money, making rent, paying bills or even skimping on groceries.
God is your ULTIMATE provider! And if you really want to know the truth, your worry and stress do nothing but push away from God’s miraculous provisions! Your faith makes room for His abundant provision!
“It happened after a while that the brook dried up because there was no rain in the land.” (I Kings 17:7). The stream dried up as a result of Israel’s rebellion, with a succession of wicked kings worshiping other gods, forsaking the God who had faithfully blessed them.
And while Israel saw no rain, God provided for Elijah… even amid that punishment! Why? Because Elijah remained faithful to his Lord.
Famine happens. Economic downturns happen. When our government is unfaithful with money, there are repercussions, dry seasons and famine. Do you want to be among those suffering, simply because of a lack of faith and rebellious behavior?
Or, will you remain faithful? God is the same today as He was yesterday and His provision for the faithful never ceases.
If you want to know why you’re really in a tight spot or dry season, try asking the Ultimate Provider. Ask God… He will tell you. And if you’re searching for provision and security, start feeding your FAITH! Remind yourself of Elijah and how God provided for him.
I hope today’s message deposited a healthy dose of faith into your spirit. I’d love to hear about one of your dry seasons and how God provided for you, so please leave me your comments below! And also let me know how you feed your faith on a daily basis because it is vital!
