Customers Versus Clients
Your clients have a choice of who they work with! They could’ve chosen to do business with a competitor… but they chose YOU.
Like it or not, everybody makes mistakes. Although we expect perfection from others, after our own mistakes we readily extend grace to ourselves. So let’s take a few minutes to examine that today…
Every single person faces big-time learning opportunities – along with some steep learning curves. Even you! So don’t you want others to cut you some slack during those times? Then maybe it’s time to put this into practice!
So often, you expect others to be perfect… and that’s where a lot of our relationships get derailed. We unrealistically expect them to never make a mistake or to always know what we’re thinking. But we ALL mess up!
So why do other people’s mistakes frustrate us so much? One word: ego. You’re absolutely sure you know better… and you’re not alone. Everybody has made this mistake; everyone, at some point, thought they knew it all or judged others for their mistakes. But ask yourself, what matters most: your success, your relationships or your ego?
And proof of the answer is right there, in your results. If your bank account looks kinda sickly, that’s a pretty good indication your ego is filled to the brim. If your relationships aren’t sizzling, there’s a good chance ego has taken over. Hear what I’m saying?
If you want to grow, if you want to make more money, if you want to have better relationships, if you want to get promoted – never stop being teachable!
Guess what? YOU DON’T KNOW EVERYTHING! As a society, everyone needs to learn to let people off the hook a little more. Because, I promise, when you show grace or choose to overlook other’s mistakes, they will be more willing to forgive your mistakes! THAT is just common sense.
If you willingly overlook the mistakes of others, that sets you up for promotion. If you are willing to set aside your ego and admit you also make mistakes and give yourself opportunities – and grace – to learn new things, that also positions you for a big step up. And, not just in your career… but in every aspect of your life! Your income is directly linked to your people skills!
